Then the Jeep stops.

You’ll leave San Francisco behind, head into Marin, and later stop at one of the best nearby viewpoints when traffic and conditions allow.

Muir Beach Overlook sits high above the Pacific, with dramatic cliffs, huge ocean views, salty air, and enough scenery to make everyone suddenly stop talking.
It’s a completely different landscape from the redwoods — and that’s exactly why we include it.
Sausalito gives the tour another personality change.
Palm trees, hillside homes, boats, waterfront views, and San Francisco across the bay.
On the standard tour, Sausalito is primarily a scenic drive-through. Add extra time if you want to stop, walk the waterfront, grab coffee, browse shops, or stay behind and ferry back to San Francisco.
Before returning to San Francisco, your guide can include a Marin Headlands viewpoint when access and conditions cooperate.

Yes. Your guide brings you to Muir Woods National Park and, in many cases, will walk with you to the park Visitor Center and entrance. You can explore the forest on foot at your own pace.
The visit inside the park is a self-guided walk along Redwood Creek. There are many National Park rangers and National Park volunteers available with a wealth of information.
Depending on the time of day, the Park Rangers also offer “Tree talks” a few times a day.

No — and that’s intentional.
Muir Woods is a self-guided National Park experience, and the National Park Service does not allow outside guides to lead tours inside the forest. This gives you the freedom to explore quietly, take photos, and move at your own pace.
Your guide stays with the Jeep and is ready when it’s time for the next scenic stop.
Bonus: When staffing allows, the park offers short ranger-led talks inside Muir Woods. These are optional and don’t require reservations.
